I N T E R P A G E Network Services Inc. ============================================================================ Service Update, Weds, May 3, 1995 -------------------------------------- [] Delayed Paging/Faxing Now Available [] New Schedule Menu for Telnet Access -------------------------------------- Hello! [] A number of Interpage customers have suggested that we implement a method by which pages and/or faxes may be "stored" at Interpage on a regular or recurring basis, and then sent out at a user-defined time. Typically, this would be useful during nighttime hours, when many users do not wish to receive anything but urgent pages. By using Delayed Paging, Interpage customers can ensure that they do not get paged for any e-mail messages, but will still be able to leave their pagers in "alert" mode in the event that they receive pages from friends, associates, etc. At the end of the Delayed Paging period, customers will be paged with all of the e-mail which they received while Delayed Paging was in effect. Interpage customers who utilize Delayed Paging may also allow e-mail with certain user-selected keywords in the Subject: header, such as "urgent", to result in an immediate page at all hours of the day, while non-urgent mail be held and paged (faxed, or forwarded) at a later, user-defined time. As a result, we have expanded our "Schedule" Menu options to allow for Delayed Paging. In order to add a Delayed Paging entry, telnet to "interpage.net", and go to menu option "6" to edit your paging/faxing/forwarding schedule. Add a new entry by pressing "+", and then select the hours during which your pages (or faxes or mail forwarding) should be delayed. The system will then prompt you to enter the type of delay (pager, fax, or mail forwarding), and then if you want to delay the schedule. Enter "Y" for yes, and when prompted, enter the time at which you would like all mail to be paged, faxed, or forwarded in one batch. (Note that if you already have a schedule entry which lasts 24 hours a day, that is, from 0000 to 2359, you will need to edit this schedule entry to ensure that is not in effect when you have Delayed Paging active. Thus, if you wish to have Delayed Paging active from Midnight to 8AM, and then to receive pages from 8AM to Midnight, you would have to reset your regular paging schedule so that you would only be paged between 0800 and 2359, and then set a Delayed Paging entry from 0000 to 0759 (and then select whatever time to want the pages which were stored overnight to be dispatched; it doesn't have to be at 8AM, it can be at any time of day.) Note that you may also elect to have the stored messages, or portions thereof, faxed to you instead of paged in rapid succession, by selecting a fax destination instead of a pager when configuring the Delayed Paging schedule entry.) Delayed Paging and "regular" paging are NOT mutually exclusive. Thus, you may have "regular" paging active 24 hours a day, and select to ALSO have Delayed Paging active and "batch" pages out to you at regular intervals, such as every 4 hours, by setting up separate Delayed Paging/Faxing Schedules. [] Another recent improvement is a redesigned Page/Fax/Mail Forwarding Schedule page, which provides a greater degree of detail and easier viewing of your pager activity schedules. If you have any questions or comments regarding these recent improvements, please mail or call, and we'll be happy to assist you.
