I N T E R P A G E Network Services Inc. ============================================================================ Service Update, Fri, July 14, 1995 [] Potential System Downtime on Sunday, July 16th, 1995 [] Aviation Weather and national forecast maps available through InterTalk [] LinkAlert Remote Monitoring Services improvements [] Enhanced Pager Overlay Services available at a discount [] E-Mail Handling available via Telnet -------------------------------------- Hello! After what has been a busy month of new customers and new service additions, I'd like to take a moment to welcome our new customers and thank ALL of our customers for your interest, support, and confidence in Interpage and our variety of services! A few notes regarding changes in our service offerings, and potential downtime on Sunday follow. Since most customers will be receiving this on Friday, I'll (try to) be brief! [] There may be an interruption of up to three hours during the daytime or early evening on Sunday while certain aspects of our link are upgraded. E-Mail paging, LinkAlert, and other services which utilize a direct link to the Internet MAY be affected. If the links should go down for an extended period of time (over 20 minutes), we will page all LinkAlert customers with code "999-203-499-5221" (ie, 999 and our main telephone number) to indicate that the link is down. When the link comes back "up", we will page LinkAlert customers with "222-203-499-5221", and service will resume as normal. E-Mail paging customers will NOT lose mail, and will be paged as mail comes in when the links come back up. We do not expect this to be a major outage, nor do we even know that any noticeable outage will occur. However, should you experience any difficulties on Sunday, please feel free to contact us and we will try to resolve any problems which may arise. Our number is (203) 499-5221. [] We have recently added a new service to InterTalk! Pilots, general aviation enthusiasts, or anyone interested in weather may now dial into InterTalk (sm) and receive up-to-date weather charts sent directly to any fax machine worldwide! Interpage gateways weather images onto our InterTalk server, and will present you with a series of options as to which charts you would like faxed. After you have selected your desired charts, InterTalk will take a few moments to prepare the charts for faxing, and shortly thereafter you should receive them on any fax machine which you designate. Weather information via InterTalk is a developmental service and part of a broader range of planned pilot and aviation services. As a result, we ask that you please be a bit tolerant with the system as we are experimenting with various ways to improve speed and efficiency (there is a bit of a delay as charts are prepared, but please do not hang up - they delay is rarely more than a minute or so.) Weather faxes are available to all Interpage users who have fax access (most plans have faxing included). The only additional charge is the per- minute fax rate as specified by your current rateplan, which is assessed in order to fax the charts to you; you are not billed for "online" time on InterTalk when dialing direct. InterTalk's direct number is +1 (617) 696-8000. [] LinkAlert, Interpage's remote site monitoring service, has recently been upgraded as a result of some very useful input from one of our current LinkAlert customers. Previously, LinkAlert would page customers on either their alpha or numeric pagers when a given link went down, in order to give warning that there may potentially be some problem. However, as long as the link remained down, Interpage would send out a warning every 5 minutes, which in many cases was not necessary, and distracted system operators from their work at hand, namely, repairing their link(s). As a result, LinkAlert customers may now *select* the time intervals at which they wish to get paged. For example, a LinkAlert customer may opt to receive a page when a link fails and then every hour thereafter until the link is operational. Any interval of time between pages is available, and we can re-set your time interval in a matter of moments for those who wish to take advantage of this new enhancement. LinkAlert customers who prefer their service the way it is need not take any action; your service will not be affected. Only those who desire a greater interval of time after the initial page need contact us in order to re-set their account(s). [] Enhanced Pager Overlay Services are now available at a discount to current Interpage customers. EPOS allows an existing pager to have 800 access, voicemail, a fax mailbox, "meet-me" services (caller is asked to hold while the pager owner comes to the phone, and both parties are connected, or the caller can be sent to voicemail, or another number), transfer to an "operator" (any number of your choice), a programmable 800#, and a programmable fax 800#, all in one package. (Individual services are always available, there is no requirement to utilize the entire package.) For more information about EPOS services and Interpage user discounts, please consult our WWW page at http://www.interpage.net and look under "Adding Enhanced services to your existing pager". We will also be glad to e-mail EPOS information upon request. [] As a reminder, E-Mail handling via Interpage's Telnet account access system is now available. Users may telnet onto Interpage, log in to their accounts, and enter "M" to scan through any mail which was sent to/through Interpage. Mail can also be forwarded to another destination. Interpage also plans to add additional mail functionality in the near future, and welcomes your comments and suggestions on how we may best serve your needs in this regard.
