I N T E R P A G E (TM) Network Services Inc. ============================================================================ Service Update, Thurs, December 21, 1995 [] Dispatch Pages via the World Wide Web ---------------------------------------- Hello! [] Interpage customers may now receive pages dispatched to them via the WWW. If you are an Interpage customer and have a pager registered with us for paging service, you may now be paged from Interpage's WebPage(sm) online WWW interface. WebPage provides for a greater degree of accessibility from the Web and the general Internet community at large. Senders who wish to page Interpage customers may opt to leave their Web page open to our location, and dispatch pages as the situation demands. There is no longer any need to start a new mail process and create a new piece of mail each time your senders need to send a new page to you. Senders may also save our URL for the WebPage interface in their "bookmarks" file, so they can access the page directly and immediately by clicking on the appropriate file in their local browser's bookmarks list. Customers with their own "pages" on the WWW (at any WWW server) may wish to include a link to our WebPage URL so that they may be paged directly from their home page. The WebPage URL is: --> http://www.interpage.net/sendpage.html WebPage supports both alpha and numeric paging, as well as multiple dispatches to a given individual pager. Thus, if a customer opts to allow up to 5 pages per e-mail to reach them at a time, then an equivalent amount of text can also be sent from the WebPage WWW access interface. (Paging options may be set via Telnet under Option 4.) Text may be entered for numeric-only pages, but only numeric data will be sent to any given numeric pager. Thus, "abc1234 efg5678" sent to a numeric pager will result in a numeric page of "12345678". An alpha pager will receive a copy of the entire text message entered, up to the paging limits of a given customer's pager and/or paging system. Anyone with WWW access may use WebPage, either using a graphic browser such as Netpage or Moscaic, or a text-only browser such as Lynx. Currently, only registered Interpage customers may be paged, ie, the WebPage interface will only allow paging to customers with valid Interpage usernames/user IDs. ------ Set Up ------ In order to have people page you via the WebPage interface, you will need to let Interpage know which pager you would like to be paged on (some customers have more than one), as well as at what time you are willing to accept WWW-originated pages. To activate and configure WebPage paging access, you will need to log on to our system via telnet. From your local system, type: --> telnet interpage.net ...and enter your userid (login name) and password when prompted. After you have successfully logged in, select Option 8/"Change Preferences" from the list of available options (enter "8"). From the Option 8 menu, select number "5"/"Change Webpager...". The system will then present you with a list of your configured pagers. Some customers have multiple pagers configured on a single account, so it is important to tell the system which pager you would like to receive WWW-originated pages on. Most alpha customers should select "alpha1", and most numeric customers should select "numeric1, which are the default pager names for alpha and numeric paging, respectively. NOTE: If you wish to DELETE an existing pager and NOT select a new one (ie, you do not want to be paged via the WWW), then do not select a pager - hit RETURN or ENTER and leave the selection blank. The system will return you to the Option 8 menu and indicate that WebPage paging has been disabled. After selecting a pager, the system will prompt you for a starting time and ending time, that is, a "window" during which you wish to receive WWW-based pages. You may set this to be any time period you like, such as 0900 to 1700 (9AM to 5AM), 1015 to 1019 (10:15AM to 10:19AM), or 0000 to 2359 (all day long). After you have completed the time selection, the system will return you to the Option 8 menu. Please exit out of the telnet menu BEFORE testing WebPage, as your settings need to be saved by our system before WebPage will become active. (NOTE: If you do not know your userid and/or password, or can not access telnet, please let us know between what hours you would like to receive WWW-originated pages and which pager you would like to receive them on, and we will enter them manually. Please allow up to two business days before your changes become effective.) ------ We encourage all of our paging customers to try out our new WebPage service and give the URL and/or Interpage Home Page address out to anyone who may need to page you. If you have any questions about the Interpage WebPage(sm) service, or any other questions, please feel free to call or write "support@interpage.net" at any time. Thank you for your continued support of the Interpage System!
